Flooring fitters in Brighton & Hove.

Engineered and solid wood, laminate and luxury vinyl tile — laid on a properly prepared subfloor and finished with skirting and thresholds that do the floor justice.

About this service

Flooring, done properly.

A new floor is only as good as what's underneath it. In older Brighton & Hove houses that usually means floorboards that creak, joists that have dipped and a subfloor that's anything but flat. Lay a new floor straight over the top and the problems come straight back through.

Because flooring sits within our carpentry work, we start with the structure: lifting and refixing boards, sorting loose or damaged joists, and boarding or levelling where it's needed. Then the new floor goes down — engineered wood, solid wood, laminate or LVT — with the right underlay, expansion gaps and a clean finish at doorways.

We'll fit new skirting or scotia to finish it, trim doors to clear the new floor height, and if you're doing the whole room, take care of the wardrobes, doors and decorating as well.

  • Engineered & solid wood

Real wood floors laid floating, glued or secret-nailed depending on the board and the subfloor.

  • Laminate flooring

Hard-wearing laminate with the right underlay, laid tight and finished cleanly.

  • LVT & vinyl plank

Luxury vinyl tile for kitchens, bathrooms and hallways where water resistance matters.

  • Subfloor repairs

Creaking boards, dipped joists and damaged sections sorted before the new floor goes down.

  • Levelling & boarding

Ply boarding and levelling so the finished floor sits flat and stays that way.

  • Skirting, thresholds & doors

New skirting or scotia, door bars and doors trimmed to clear the new floor.

Why Capstone

What you can count on.

  • Carpenters, not just floor layers

We can fix what's underneath — boards, joists and levels — rather than laying over a problem.

  • A clear, written quote

You get the scope and the price in writing before anything is booked. No vague lines, nothing held back to add on at the end.

  • One point of contact

You deal with Capstone from the first message to the final photo. If the job needs a plumber, electrician, plasterer or decorator as well, we line them up and run the programme — you're not juggling numbers.

  • Finished, photographed and followed up

When the work's done you get an invoice and photos of the finished job, and we check in afterwards. If something isn't right, we come back and put it right.

Questions

Flooring: common questions.

How much does it cost to have flooring fitted in Brighton?

It depends on the size of the room, the type of floor, and especially the condition of the subfloor underneath. We'll look at what's there and give you a fixed, written quote — including any repair or levelling needed — before we start.

Do you supply the flooring or do I?

Either works. We can source it for you, or fit flooring you've already chosen.

Can you fix creaking floorboards before laying a new floor?

Yes. Sorting the subfloor is part of doing the job properly, and it's one of the main reasons to use carpenters for flooring.

Will my doors need trimming?

Often, yes — a new floor usually raises the floor height slightly. We'll trim and re-hang doors as part of the job.

Can you lay flooring in a kitchen or bathroom?

Yes. LVT and vinyl plank are well suited to kitchens, bathrooms and hallways, and we'll make sure the edges are sealed properly.
